Covington Township, Lackawanna County, PA is accepting applications for a Full-Time Roadmaster. Applicants must possess a clean CDL license (minimum CDL-B) and any combination of education and experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities as follows: operation of light, medium, or heavy equipment; operation of manual, pneumatic, and power tools; the ability to operate roll-off trucks; maintain roads, drainage ditches and swales; must be able to plow roads in the winter; must be able to respond to emergencies on a twenty-four-hour basis, especially during periods of snow; must be able to repair vehicles and equipment; and knowledge of building systems maintenance. The applicant shall have thorough knowledge of light, medium, and heavy equipment operating procedures; road maintenance and repair practices and procedures; safety practices and procedures for equipment and tools; and be willing to learn department policy, procedures, and work rules. The applicant should also have the ability to diagnose problems with equipment; interpret detailed technical manuals and determine proper course of action; operate township motor vehicles (snowplow, trucks, etc.); supervise road laborers; and fill out written reports in a clear and concise manner.
