Help Wanted: Full-Time Roadmaster

Covington Township, Lackawanna County, PA is accepting applications for a Full-Time Roadmaster.  Applicants must possess a clean CDL license (minimum CDL-B) and any combination of education and experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities as follows:  operation of light, medium, or heavy equipment; operation of manual, pneumatic, and power tools; the ability to operate roll-off trucks; maintain roads, drainage ditches and swales; must be able to plow roads in the winter; must be able to respond to emergencies on a twenty-four-hour basis, especially during periods of snow; must be able to repair vehicles and equipment; and knowledge of building systems maintenance.  The applicant shall have thorough knowledge of light, medium, and heavy equipment operating procedures; road maintenance and repair practices and procedures; safety practices and procedures for equipment and tools; and be willing to learn department policy, procedures, and work rules.  The applicant should also have the ability to diagnose problems with equipment; interpret detailed technical manuals and determine proper course of action; operate township motor vehicles (snowplow, trucks, etc.); supervise road laborers; and fill out written reports in a clear and concise manner.  Applications can be found on the Township website, www.covingtontwp.org.  Applications/resumes will be accepted at the Municipal Office, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444 until February 15, 2024. 

The board of supervisors is accepting letters of interest for the position of board supervisor. Letters should be submitted to the municipal office by February 28, 2025.
