Santa’s Coming to town! This Sunday, November 28th, Covington Township Fire Company & Ladies Auxiliary will be parading Santa & Mrs. Claus around the township beginning at 1p.m. At all stops, Santa will be greeting the children to hear their Christmas lists and hand out treats. Santa & Mrs. Claus are meeting Covington Township’s Recreation Committee in the Hall Of Trees at Moffat Pavilion for their final stop.
Sealed proposals will be received by Covington Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania at the Covington Township Municipal Building, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444, care of Melinda Musso, Township Secretary, until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, for the purchase of a used 4×4 tractor with a side mount boom mower, right hand mid mount, 90-110 horsepower, less than 1,500 hours, and a reach capacity of 15-20 feet. The township is not accepting any bids over $50,000. Proposals shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Proposal for Tractor – Boom Mower”. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud the same day during the regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Covington Township Board of Supervisors will be accepting bids for the sale of a John Deere 450J Crawler Dozer until Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. Bids will be opened at a public meeting held at 7:00 p.m. on November 2, 2021, in the Municipal Building located at 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444. The John Deere 450J Crawler Dozer is a 2007 long track, full cab, H&A 97” all angle blade, hydraulic pump for winch, radio, no DEF and less than 200 hours. The Board will award the bid to the highest responsible bidder. Down payment of 10% by cashier’s check must be made to the office of the Secretary of Covington Township by 4:00 p.m. on the day following award of the bid. Remaining balance must be made by cashier’s check before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. If full payment is not received by the secretary before this time, the bid will be rejected and the equipment will be rebid. The board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Board of Supervisors have prepared a tentative budget for the year 2022, which will be adopted, after changes, if any, at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. The proposed budget is below for inspection and also at the Municipal Office during normal business hours, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444.

On Sunday, October 31, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., the Covington Independent Fire Company’s Auxilliary will be hosting a drive-thru Fire Truck or Treat event. There will be a fire truck outside where families can drive up with their trick-or-treaters and receive a small bag of goodies.
