NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Zoning Hearing Board of Covington Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania at 6:45 p.m. on February 10, 2026 at the Covington Township Building, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444 for the purpose of receiving evidence and hearing testimony concerning the Application for an Appeal of Zoning Officer’s Decision and in the alternative a Variance for the use of a “Bus Terminal” by the Applicant H.E. Rohrer, LLC d/b/a Rohrer Bus Services on the real property owned by the Descipio Irrevocable Trust and Anthony J. Descipio, Sr., located at 1200 Drinker Turnpike (Covington Township) Covington, PA 18444 with Tax Parcel No. 1980-402-001001. At issue are the requests for relief under the Covington Township Zoning Ordinance sections 404.4 titled “R-2-High Density Residential District”, Article III-Definitions “Bus Terminal”, “Vehicles”, “Vehicle and Equipment Sales Operation”, “Vehicle or Equipment Repair Operations”, 507.6-“Changes of Nonconforming Uses”, 507.7 “Extension of Nonconforming Uses” and 608.3-“Variances”. The property is located in a R-2-High Density Residential District of the Covington Township Zoning Ordinance. If you have any objection to said requests for relief, you should be present at said time and place as stated above to make your objection known to the Zoning Hearing Board or be represented by an attorney at that hearing.

The municipal office will have reduced office hours for the Christmas holiday. The office will be closing at noon on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve) and will remain closed through Friday, December 26, 2025. The municipal office will be open on Monday, December 29th for normal office hours, but will be closed on Tuesday, December 30th through, Friday, January 2, 2026. The Covington Township Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 5:00 pm at the Municipal Office, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444 to approve the purchase of a new police vehicle, to set the tax rate for the 2026 year, and any other business which may come before the board. The Covington Township Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026at 6:30 pm in the municipal office, 20 Moffat Drive, Covington Township, PA 18444 to address the application received from Amazon.com Services, LLC to request a change in zoning district for property located at 298 First Avenue, Covington Township, PA. The application requests zoning map amendment to return portion of property to M-1 district consistent with balance of property and existing/previously approved development. All interested parties are invited to attend. The application is available at the township office for review. A vote on the ordinance may take place at the conclusion of the hearing.

The applicant seeks to request a variance to allow the conditional use of the parcel as a School Bus Depot. All interested parties are invited to attend.
